Ouro is live — one AI agent for every camera you own

Graphene Gangway ·

Today we’re shipping Ouro on the App Store.

Here’s the short version: Ouro is a shared AI agent for the cameras, microphones, and screens on the devices you already own. You point any connected camera at something — a menu in Japanese, a plant you can’t identify, a wine label, a receipt — and one agent tells you what it is, translates it, saves it to a searchable visual memory, and (in the upcoming Watchers release) watches for the things you tell it to care about, across every device you’ve connected.

Why we built it

The current shape of consumer AI looks like this: you type a question into a chat window. That window might be on your desktop, on your phone, or inside another app. It’s a text interface, born of a keyboard-first era. It’s a good interface for some things.

But it’s the wrong interface for the vast majority of what people actually want AI to do for them in their daily life.

The devices most people carry through their days have cameras and microphones that see and hear the world. Those are the inputs AI should be reading from. Meta shipped two million Ray-Ban smart glasses last year with an AI that can barely answer “what am I looking at.” Apple Intelligence runs locally on every iPhone 15 Pro or newer but has no real application surface. Your laptop webcam is used for video calls and nothing else. Your IP cameras at home send motion notifications and nothing else.

All of these devices see and hear things. None of them understand each other. None of them tell you the thing that actually matters when it happens.

Ouro is the layer that makes them act like one.

What ships today

iOS app — free on the App Store. The free tier works without a cloud connection, without an API key, without signup. Apple Intelligence on-device (iOS 26+) answers questions about what your iPhone camera sees. Ten specialized skills — Scan Doc, Scan Card, Translate, Scan Space, Floor Plan, 3D Scan, Notes, Create, Identify, Describe — are built in and ready to use the moment you open the app.

Meta Ray-Ban Meta glasses integration. Connect your Ray-Bans over Bluetooth and the app treats them as just another connected camera. Voice-first interaction, hands-free.

Visual Memory. Everything you scan is saved to a searchable timeline on your device. Tag it, rename it, annotate it, delete it. The whole memory is yours, local, and exportable.

Paid tiers for cloud AI. $6.99/mo Plus adds Gemini Flash and a second provider. $14.99/mo Pro adds Claude Sonnet 4 and GPT-4o. All cloud AI is routed through our own backend — we hold the provider keys, you never need an API key of your own, and we never see the content of your prompts.

What comes next

The most important feature isn’t in this first release. It’s coming next quarter.

Watchers is a standing AI agent with a job. You point it at the cameras and microphones you choose, you give it a natural-language instruction (“alert me if anyone enters the back gate between 10pm and 6am, except the mailman before 11am”), and it watches — in the background, across every device you’ve connected — alerting only when something you asked about actually happens.

This is the core idea behind Ouro as a platform. An iOS app that does chat-with-camera is a nice utility. But the real thing we’re building is a shared intelligence layer across every sensor you trust. Watchers is the first feature that can only exist once that layer exists.

Alongside Watchers we’re shipping:

  • macOS and Windows companion apps — your laptop webcam and screen become additional sensors the shared agent can see
  • IP camera support over RTSP — bring your Ring, Reolink, or whatever home camera you already have
  • Team tier — multi-seat with a shared memory pool for small businesses, households, research groups
  • Web dashboard — configure watchers, review alerts, browse memory, all in a browser

Privacy is not a feature, it’s the architecture

We don’t make Ouro private by adding a privacy page to the settings screen. It’s private because the defaults are on-device and cloud is opt-in at every layer.

  • Free tier: Apple Intelligence runs locally. No cloud connection required for normal use. Your camera frames never leave the phone.
  • Paid tier: cloud AI is routed through our backend. We log the timestamp, model used, token count, and your subscription ID for billing and abuse prevention. We don’t store the content of your prompts, images, or AI responses. Logs are deleted after 30 days.
  • Visual Memory: stored locally in iOS SwiftData. Never uploaded unless you explicitly share a specific memory.
  • No ad tracking. No third-party analytics SDK. No data sold to anyone, ever.

How we’re building this

Ouro is bootstrap. Solo founder, zero funding, as of the day this post goes up. The backend runs on Cloudflare Workers — $5/month infrastructure that scales to six figures of users before it costs meaningfully more. Provider credits come from startup programs (Microsoft for Startups, Google Cloud for Startups, Anthropic for Startups — applications in progress).

The reason the free tier can genuinely be free forever is that we don’t bundle a third-party API key in the app. Users who want cloud AI either bring their own key (which never leaves their device) or subscribe, which routes through our metered backend. Our marginal cost on a free user is zero.

How to try it

Download on the App Store — free.

Connect Meta Ray-Ban Meta glasses for the hands-free experience, or just use your iPhone camera. Point it at anything. Ask any question.

What I’d love from you

If you try it, I want to know what broke and what felt good. Email me directly: [email protected]. I read every message.

If you know someone who’d care about this — a friend with Meta glasses, a creator who scans things for reference, a small business owner who wants AI watching their storefront, a dev who wants their laptop to have an AI teammate — send them the link. Word of mouth is the entire strategy today.

And if you’re in the press, a podcaster, or an investor: press kit + founder availability at graphenegangway.com/ouro/support or direct to my inbox.

One AI. Every camera you own. Today.
